She started her business because: Love motivates me, being able to love and support others is what I enjoy. I believe God has place this great ambition in my heart for a wonderful reason, and though it hasn’t always been comfortable or easy I’ve fully embraced my purpose.

Apart from being a newly published Indie Author of the children’s book What Is God’s Favorite Color? I am also Executive Editor of The Indie Journ. A online indie magazine for creative and business minds. Through Indie Journ, independent artistes and entrepreneurs are provided with useful resources that empower and inspire them to be their very best both professionally and personally.
What is a day in the life of you like?
It’s wonderful. I wake up at about 3:30 a.m. pray, have a cup of tea and maybe watch a little news before I get to work. Work for me consists of web designing, preparing article assignments, writing articles, “you know” just your normal duties of running a magazine. Then I’m off to getting my four beautiful children ready for school. Afterwards it’s back to work full force. And now with my forth coming book “The Flesh” a story about love and relationships coming this Spring lately my days have been geared toward my book and the book signing campaign.
What have been your biggest challenges so far with running your business?
As a indie author and entrepreneur, starting out I had to market me and that use to be my biggest challenge…marketing myself. It has always been easy for me to invest so much of my time, energy, and efforts toward others. However, when it came to me, I was pretty much frozen. Not knowing what to say or do, because people can be so judgmental. But I knew I had to overcome it before it led to major setbacks.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I carefully considered my surroundings, such as people that I was spending my time with, and certain places that I was attending, who I am as a person and what “I know” I represent. Which is love and inspiration. It helped me to see that my focus was wrong. Instead of focusing on people and what they may think, I just live my life doing what I need to do to advance in my businesses. I’m not a quitter, I know the value of my being and I’m confident that my Creator…my Father in Heaven, has blessed the way for me. I think positively about my future and I feel good about it.
What have you found to be the most effective way to get new clients?
I find that people are mostly interested in how they will benefit, as a result of accepting services and goods that are offered to them, in exchange for their time and money. I’m no economist but I can clearly see that the times are somewhat harder now. I think that putting out profitable products, and availing complimentary, but strong, useful resources, for potential clients and buyers will increase chances of gaining loyal clients. Which can create significant value for all parties.
If your services can’t meet the needs and desires of your client adequately then you’ll jeopardize them coming back or spreading good testimonies about you along the way.
What advice would you give to other business owners?
Just these four things:
-Prioritize and re-evaluate company goals daily.
-Read at least 1 character building based book weekly.
-In most cases it’s the staff directly interacting with your clients so make sure you treat them well, as they are crucial to your company’s success.
-Do not take on more than you can handle.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I believe that everything happens for a reason. When obstacles occur they bring out your strengths and open you up to having faith which is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. So when these difficult situations arise I can turn them into positive outcomes because I believe that everything will ultimately work out for the best.
