Naomi Timperley came across Baby Loves Disco on the internet, which organises disco parties for parents and children, and persuaded its American founders to let her set up in the UK.
The events give parents & children (6mths – 7 yrs) a place to go and hang out together, have fun, a bit of a dance and get a break from the routine playground circuit. The professional DJs play classic disco, there are bubble machines, egg shakers, dance scarves, a chill out area, nappy changing stations, healthy snacks, juice boxes and LOTS of dancing!
With no experience of events or marketing, but a great instinct, BLD launched in London’s Clapham Grand and Manchester’s Pure, and has mushroomed since, with events in Glasgow, Brighton, Leeds, Stirling, Edinburgh, Bristol, north London and Birmingham.
BLD has worked with the Southbank/Royal Festival Hall, DanceXchange, Family Friendly Film Festival, Dance East, Dance South West, Cornbury Festival and several other organisations. Universal released a TV advertised compilation BLD album in July 2009. Baby Loves Disco launched at Butlins in April 2010.
With a tiny budget Naomi works tirelessly to be the face and name of Baby Loves Disco and has used PR and social marketing to grow a loyal family of fans. She has been featured in the media all over the world including Dragons’ Den and Dragons’ Den on Tour. Naomi supports Young Enterprise North West and is a Business Advisor for SIFE at Salford University and has made several public speaking engagements over the last 2 years and is now a speaker for School Speakers the brainchild of Apprentice start Claire Young.
At every Baby Loves Disco event there is a deep and heartfelt community spirit and I am so proud of what Naomi has achieved! The music brings kids together with kids and parents together with parents and is just the best time kid’s event.
In February 2011 Naomi is launching Social Media Boom with Elaine Hewlett. Social Media Boom is a Social Media training company that will work with SME’s and start up’s on how Social Media can help your business grow.
