Napoleon Hill once said “whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve” and there are some famous female entrepreneurs who definitely back that statement up. These women are inspirational and if you take the time to learn about them, you will discover what it is you need to do in order to be just as successful. What they have achieved is incredible, but it’s not rocket science and if they can do it then we can all do it.
These women had an idea and turned it into a reality, through persistence, determination and by overcoming obstacles. There are a lot of famous female entrepreneurs who started out with no knowledge of business, pennies in their pocket, zero contacts, yet they still manage to create hugely successful businesses.
When you study any successful entrepreneur there are key patterns in behaviour that emerge and I think that if we apply these behaviours to our lives then the chances are that we will succeed a lot faster than we ever imagined.
Here is what I believe are the top five things famous female entrepreneurs know about how to become successful:
1. Believe in Yourself
Mary Kay Ash once said “Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember you can achieve.”
I think every female entrepreneur can benefit greatly from that quote. Too often we limit ourselves by thoughts of self doubt and believing it’s impossible for us to achieve great things, like others have. The fact is, those thoughts destroy your chances of success. If you limit what is possible then you will never achieve the things you want.
The mind is a powerful thing and you can train your mind to make sure it’s programmed for success.
2. Have a Support System
Anita Roddick once said: “We entrepreneurs are loners, vagabonds, troublemakers. Success is simply a matter of finding and surrounding ourselves with those open-minded and clever souls who can take our insanity and put it to good use.”
If you want to achieve greater success, faster all you have to do is find excellent people to help you. I’ve found in business that I have the ideas, the vision and the determination, but I don’t have every single skill necessary to put the whole idea in place. So, I use the expertise of others to help make my vision a reality.
There are so many people out there ready and waiting to help you; if you look you will find the right team for you.
3. Create a unique product or service
Linda Bennett once said: “Create a unique product or service – that will give you an edge over your competitors.”
This is a very important point to consider in business. Whether you already run your own business or not, think about how you could differentiate yourself from your competition. It doesn’t matter if you’re not creating a brand new product, what matters is you take the time to really think about what your unique selling point is or could be.
If you do this it will put you way ahead of your competition and you will become far more successful. Remember to think outside the box; a good tip is to look at successful companies in a different industry and copy their unique selling points.
4. Be of service
Debbi Fields once said: “The principle was right there – you couldn’t miss it. The more you did for your customers, the more they did for us.”
This is so vitally important to your success strategy. If you can create a long-term and meaningful relationship with your customers than you will soar to success.
It’s clear from Debbi Fields quote that her focus wasn’t just on making a sale. It was on figuring out how her company could offer more to her customers.
Have a really good think about what you could give to your customers that they would really benefit from or appreciate. If you do this they will definitely remember you and use you again in the future.
5. Take Responsibility
Michelle Mone once said: “If things don’t work take responsibility for it yourself and don’t blame others”
To become a truly successful female entrepreneur you must take responsibility. When you take responsibility your life will transform.
When we blame others it uses up our energy and time waiting for someone else to come and fix the problem. When you take responsibility you will overcome obstacles far quicker and succeed much faster.
