Choose Your Mantra For A Successful Year

Choose Your Mantra

2020 is very nearly here, and one of the things I love to do before I start a new year is to decide on my mantra for the year. It’s such a fun thing to do, but it’s also incredibly powerful and it has helped me so much throughout the years.

When I set my mantra, it becomes my “go-to” saying and belief for the year. Some of my past mantras have been:

  • “I can and I will. Watch me.” – this gave me the drive to feel like I was finally making it happen.
  • “Don’t be afraid, you can do it” – that year for me was about stepping up even though it terrified me, so I needed a mantra to help me get over myself.
  • “Be bold, you can do it” – this helped me remember to keep taking bold action.

Setting a mantra is a great way to focus your thoughts around one phrase or intention that captures who you want to be or what you want to achieve in a year.

If you’ve been procrastinating and putting things off, your mantra for the year could be “If not now, then when?”. Every time you come to do something that scares you, you repeat that mantra to yourself and it becomes a recurring thought that plays in your mind over and over again and pushes you forward.

If you’ve been feeling like you’re not worthy or not good enough for the success you dream of, your mantra could simply be “Success is mine” or “I’ve got my own back”, reminding yourself not to self-sabotage and doubt yourself.

Maybe your mantra for the year could be “take a chance” if you’ve been struggling to take a leap of faith.

Think about what resonates with you and choose a mantra that really frames what you’re trying to overcome or achieve.
