Last year I had a baby… in the run up to it I questioned how on earth I’d be able to actually continue to build my business AND look after a baby! I’m a bit of a workaholic and I was well aware that when the baby came along I wouldn’t have anywhere near the same amount of time to invest into my business and this freaked me out.
I realise that not every woman wants to have a baby, but there are a lot of us who do want to have children and be successful entrepreneurs… and this raises questions:
- How will I have time for my business?
- Will I still be able to make it a success?
- Can I honestly be good at both?!
The list of questions goes on, but ultimately the fact is:
Yes, we can raise amazing children AND build wildly successful businesses
(I mean come on, we’re women after all!!).
This is the mantra I kept repeating to myself before I had my son, Kasey… but aside from reaffirming to myself that I could do it, there were some other things I focused on doing to set myself up for success:
- Before Kasey arrived
- While I was on maternity leave
- Once I started working again
I am by no means any kind of expert at this stuff (far from it… some days I feel like I’m totally failing), but since having Kasey I’ve received so many messages from women who have children or who want to have children asking me how I’m handling this transition, so I thought I’d open up about this and share my story with you of having a baby and continuing to build my business.
So, I’ve made a mini video series to talk about each phase I’ve gone through and share my experiences and tips, so here’s part 1 for you:
