The Best Marketing Advice EVER by Steve Jobs

How do you take your marketing from ok, to amazing? In this video Steve Jobs shares his answer…

:: 6 THINGS TO MAKE YOUR MARKETING AMAZING ::

1. MARKETING IS ABOUT VALUES

What are your brands values? How could you integrate them into your marketing?

2. WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW?

You have to be really clear about what you want people to know about you and your brand.

3. TAKE CARE OF IT

You have to take really good care of your brand, so that it retains its relevance. The story is always evolving and you have to keep your audience on that journey with you.

4. DON’T FOCUS ON SELLING PEOPLE ON WHAT YOU DO

Steve Jobs says it’s a mistake to focus on telling people about what you do. He said, “it’s not to talk about speeds and fees. It’s not to talk about bits and mega-hertz.” That’s how Apple do what they do, but that’s not what’s made Apple one of the most loved brands in the world.

5. FORGET ABOUT COMPARING YOURSELF WITH YOUR COMPETITION

Jobs says to forget about telling people why you’re better than your competition… because there’s something more important you need to be focusing on.

6. WHAT YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY FOCUS ON…

Focus on telling people about who you are as a brand and what you’re about. Nike sell shoes, but they don’t sell you on why they’re better than their competitors. They don’t sell you on how they’ve got such great shoes. They focus on sharing with you who they are and what they’re about – honouring great athletes and honouring great athletics.
