When Friday rolls around and TGIF hashtags start filling up your newsfeed, I’m guessing your excitement is a little different than your 9-5 counterparts.

As an entrepreneur, many of us view the weekend as an opportunity to take our business to the next level, and not just as a reason to let loose for 2 days.

Don’t get me wrong, I will be the first to say how important it is to take a day off and clear your mind, but I also know that utilizing the weekend can be incredibly useful when you’re just getting started.

That being said, here is a little Weekend Wisdom to help take your business to the next level.

START A NEWSLETTER

Now, I’m betting many of you are thinking this is crazy, because you don’t have an audience yet. Well, here are 3 reasons why that doesn’t matter as much as you think it does.

1. You have to start somewhere.

Whether you have 1 daily reader or thousands, you have to start somewhere. By starting your blog newsletter you are giving your readers a reason to come back again and again.

Creating a newsletter off the bat shows that you value every reader.

2. We expect it.

When I dig a site, I expect them to offer me a weekly dose of awesome. Don’t you?

A blog newsletter works twofold. It shows you are confident in the material you are providing and as your network grows, helps you build authority.

If you’re concerned about how few subscribers you have in the beginning, simply don’t advertise how many you have – an option offered in Aweber. Once you’ve reached your ideal number, display it publicly and give potential subscribers an incentive to follow you.

3. Subscribers beget subscribers.

Newsletters are a great tool for you to share your new content. They are also a convenient way for your subscribers to share your content with their friends. With all this sharing you will start to see increased visitor levels to your site and ultimately, more subscribers.

NEWSLETTER QUICK TIPS:

Stressed at the idea of adding a newsletter? Don’t be. Here are a few tips that will help this addition to your site as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

  • Sign up with Aweber – it is cheap and easy to manage.
  • Keep it simple – you don’t have to write a novel; just a quick & witty paragraph or two.
  • Be consistent – people appreciate consistency.
  • Be patient – results won’t happen overnight, but hang in there.
  • Promote your content – don’t forget to include a link to your site!

Easy, right?

So do yourself a favor and use this weekend to kick start a loyal following of subscribers. You won’t regret it!
