We’ve reached the end of another year (yikes!!) and so I’ve been taking some time to reflect on 2013. When I’m reflecting I ask myself a series of questions and one of those questions is “What has been my biggest discovery this year?”
I began to scan back over the year in my mind, thinking of the things I’ve learnt, my aha moments, my achievements and mistakes and as I was sat there lost in my thoughts I began to realise what my biggest discovery has been.
As I wrote it down on paper I started to realise what a huge impact it’s actually had on me and my business this year. In fact, I started to build my business in a totally different way this year because of this thing. So I thought I’d share it with you, because I think no matter what kind of business you run this can help.
This is my biggest discovery this year: don’t just build a business like everyone else, create an experience.
I realise that this is something we all do anyway when we’re build our businesses, but before this year this wasn’t something I was doing consciously.
People talk all the time about setting goals – working out how many sales you want, how many followers you want, how many email subscribers you want, but how often do you hear people say “what kind of experience do you want to create for people? How do you want to make people feel?”.
But that’s what really counts. Yes, knowing your numbers and having targets to reach is really important, but I think consciously working on how you want to make people feel is something that allows you to take your business to another level. You connect more deeply with people, create more engagement and you start to build a brand people love and remember.
So, in this week’s episode I shared my discovery and the things which have helped me to actually work on creating an experience for people. Have a watch or listen to the podcast below.
So, that’s my biggest discovery this year and my questions to you is, what kind of experience are you creating for people through your business? And what has been your biggest discovery this year? Leave a comment below. I’d love to read them!
