I’ve never met an entrepreneur who couldn’t relate when I’ve said “running a business is lonely!”
Because it is. It’s just you and your idea. No managers, no colleagues, no work socials or work Christmas parties.
My problem is that when I spend too much time by myself my brain goes into overdrive and I start to over think EVERYTHING. The doubts creep in, then I start questioning everything, then I put the imaginary breaks on and stop making progress. In the past this has been a huge problem for me (it got so bad at one point, I packed my bags and fled to Australia in search of friendship, fun and an epiphany… sadly the last part never happened!).
Then in 2011 it dawned on me that I needed to take some responsibility for my situation and do something about it. So I did – I began to build up a group of wonderful, amazing, lovely, helpful business friends… one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
In this week’s video I share all about how I started building my group of business friends and some realisations that have really helped me.
This week’s topics was inspired by all the incredible women I met at an event I was at this weekend (hello to all of you!). While talking to lots of people I began to realise how lonely so many entrepreneurs are and I know from my own experience that it can be hard!
Please leave a comment below and share your experiences on this – do you ever feel lonely? If so, what helps you? How have you made business friends? I would love to hear from you.
Have a wonderful week!
