5 Things to try this month // August

Send out a handwritten letter to your customers to let them know how important they are to you.

How good do you feel when someone goes out of their way to send something nice to you? Pretty good, I’d say! I love receiving cards off people, it makes me smile, it makes me like them more and it makes me want to do something nice for them (the law of reciprocity!). So why not make an effort this month and send your customers a beautiful handwritten card to thank them for being so great! You could even mention about what new and exciting things you’re up to at the moment as well. It’s a great way to build lasting relationships.

Go on Twitter and take part in Jacqueline Gold’s #WOW Wednesday.

What’s this all about?! Well, every Wednesday between 1pm-3pm GMT Jacqueline Gold, the chief executive of Ann Summers runs a competition, where she re-tweets three winners! Here’s what you have to do…

Tweet @jacqueline_gold and include #WOW and tell her about how great your business is! She picks her top 3 favourite tweets and re-tweets them to all of her followers.

It’s definitely worth trying out! If you win it could gain lots of exposure for your business!

Reach out to someone who inspires you and ask for their advice.

I think most of us forget to do this all too often! Getting advice from people who inspire us is a great way to learn amazing things and feel even more inspired and determined to achieve amazing things. So this month send an email, pick up the phone or write a letter and try and get some advice from someone who inspires you.

Try taking a 5 minute inspiration break every day.

I started doing this a few months ago, even though I don’t manage to do it ever single day, it’s made such a difference. Get yourself on ted.com or youtube.com and search for inspirational videos and spend 5 minutes or so feeding your mind inspiration! It will help you to feel fired up and ready to take on the rest of the day. Here are some videos that inspire me:

Simon Sink, How Great Leaders Inspire

Amy Purdy, Living Beyond Limits

The Power of Self-Belief

Les Brown, It’s Possible

Jim Rohn, 3 Questions You Should Ask Yourself

 Try meditating.

As busy entrepreneurs we need to take time to relax our minds and meditating is a great way to do this. It’s simple to do and you can do it in 5 minutes.

All you need to do is:

Go and sit somewhere quiet, where you won’t be disturbed. Sit in a comfortable chair and rest your hands on your lap and close your eyes.

Take several deep breaths in and out through your nose. When you breathe in, imagine that you are inhaling relaxation – feel your body relax. When you exhale, imagine all the stress leaving your body.

Continue to breathe slowly and then start to relax your feet – feel them loosen up and let the tension drain out. Now work your way up, relaxing every part of your body – your ankles, your calves, your knees, right up to your head.

Do that for 5 minutes and then slowly open your eyes and bring yourself back.

Have a fabulous month!
