What motivated you to start your business?
I suffered a stroke 15 years ago, and wanted to share my story with others, so we created a publishing company, and with the help of my husband (I am speech impaired and paralized on my right side now) wrote a book about my life. You can view it on Amazon.
Tell us about your business…
D & C Publishing will be publishing all of our books, including cook books I will be writing.
What is a day in the life of you like?
Getting into my electric wheelchair, doing my daily routine, which includes cooking, traveling, housework, etc.. My husband documents what I do for the book and blog, which encourages people reading it, because most “normal” people cannot do what I do, yet I have only the use of one arm, one leg, and speak only a few words. (my husband is helping me to write this.)
What have been your biggest challenges so far with running your business?
Not being verbal, and being paralized on my right side. Basically recovering from my stroke for the last 15 years.
How did you overcome these challenges?
With determination, will power, faith and a “no quitting” attitude.
What have you found to be the most effective way to get new clients?
Internet networking like Facebook, blogging, Twitter and YouTube.
What advice would you give to other business owners?
Just do it, Don’t let your circumstances get in the way of your faith. With God’s help, you can do ANYTHING!
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I pray and read the Bible, and let my husband and close friends encourasge me.
What’s your favourite quote?
“All things are possible to those that believe.”
