PRACTICE TEA MEDITATION

Try adding tea meditation to your morning or evening routine this month. Make a cup of tea in your favorite flavor and sit with mindful awareness, being present in the moment. Enjoy the aroma moving up through your nostrils as you breathe in. Let the flavors heighten the joy of being completely in this moment. Dwell happily in the now despite the stresses, the tensions, and the worries. Simply sit there, relax and enjoy. Don’t like tea? No worries! Practicing mindfulness doesn’t have to be limited to tea. Try it with your morning coffee, green smoothie, or just plain old, yummy water.

GET PR OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOURSELF

Don’t be afraid to go out there and get PR opportunities for yourself. Even if you’re new to business, remember that you’re the expert in your field and you have an amazing and unique story to share which journalists and editors are crying out to feature! Start by choosing one magazine, newspaper, blog or podcast. Read or listen to it for a while so that you get a feel for the type of content they share, then think about how you can add value for their audience, and send a personalised pitch email introducing yourself to start the conversation.

DO LESS AND DO BETTER

Don’t try to do everything today. You will not really get anything done this way. Focus on one, two or three tasks and get them done properly. Guess what?! You still have tomorrow and the day after that to do those other things. It’s OK to not get everything done today!

LEVERAGE ONLINE NETWORKING AND MARKETING

I go to one local networking group in my area where most of the female business owners there spend half of the week at networking groups. It costs them a fortune not only in time away from their business, but also money. My tip is to use that time and money to educate yourself, whether it be in marketing, social media, business improvements, or whatever you need to learn to make your business grow. Learning more in this way will make your business visible to hundreds and thousands of people rather than a room of 35.

OUTWEIGH CHAOS AND NEGATIVITY WITH GRATITUDE JOURNALING

I started my practice with gratitude notes and journaling over two years ago. I used post-it notes or random pieces of notepaper and jotted down even the simplest of things that gave me thanks. It gave me a tiny moment to focus on the good. What I found was that these notes started to open up my eyes to how much I actually had to be grateful for. I started to look for the good in my day. Some days it was a simple as a funny text from a friend or a walk with my dog. The good days started to outweigh the bad…even though my life was still in chaos. The difference was I was able to see beyond it.
